I worked with ABB to create a Virtual Contract Manager (VCM) concept within a month. The tool would pull live data from ABB's on-site equipment - displaying equipment vitals, raw material costs, maintenance trends, and much more. The VCM will provide ABB and their customers with a holistic view of information, helping to prevent equipment downtime, monitor customer contracts, and reduce servicing costs.
ABB is a leading global technology company that energizes the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future. By connecting software to its electrification, robotics, automation and motion portfolio, ABB pushes the boundaries of technology to drive performance to new levels. ABB has a history stretching back more than 130 years, and is driven by about 105,000 employees in over 100 countries.

Client Interview Synopsis
Spend one month creating a concept for ABB and their customers that will allow them to monitor important information regarding their equipment and contracts. Determine exactly what users want in the tool, make it digestible, and then design it.
The first two weeks of this project were spent interviewing ABB associates and customers located in Germany, England, United Arab Emirates, Italy, and America. We started each interview by introducing our objective, followed by questions that helped us determine interviewees' ideal features and functionalities in a Virtual Contract Manager. From these interviews, we generated user stories that satisfied what ABB Contract Managers and ABB customers wanted to see in the tool.
User Story Examples:
User Story 1.1: As a Contract Manager, I would like to be able to determine if there is a pattern to a site's support case generation in order to root cause the reason for the trend.
User Story 1.8: As a Contract Manager, I would like to be able to see our response time over time in order to see whether we need to improve.
User Story 2.3: As a Contract Manager and as a Customer, I would like to see my site's planned hours vs. used in order to make sure we aren't overusing or underusing entitlements
User Story 4.1: As a Customer, I would like to see a break-down of each Entitlement I have in an agreement
User Story 7.6: As a Customer, I would like case summary information that could assist me in similar scenarios in the future
After determining our user stories, based around the business needs and the summary findings from our interviews, we began on the structure of the tool - how each page of the VCM would be connected from start to finish.
Next were the wireframes - laying out each page to show the content we wanted to display. This phase went through several cycles of design, review, and revisions.
After finalizing the wireframes with ABB, I then spent two days creating high-fidelity designs for every page of the tool. Simultaneously, I began working on a design system, outlining specifications for each component within the final concept.
The final deliverables for this project consisted of 12 fully designed pages for an ideal ABB Virtual Contract Manager. These high-fidelity screens, as well as the design system would help with the next phase - building a functional Minimal Viable Product (MVP) to be used by ABB and their customers.
